Relive the Carnival fun from 2019…

Harrogate welcomed the world with an explosion of dancing, music, colour and sound in the Harrogate Carnival on 27th July 2019. Even the rain didn't stop this event from being a superb experience.

The amazing Saurus street theatre landed in Harrogate on Friday 26th July 2019, supported by Harrogate Bid as part of the Harrogate Welcomes The World Carnival presented by Harrogate International Festivals.

Free for all, Carnival will bring a big, colourful, family-fun extravaganza to Harrogate town centre and Valley gardens full of the diverse tastes, cultures and sounds the world has to offer.

The Carnival parade will include a range of global dance performances and will be bursting with colours, costumes and sounds as it makes its way through Harrogate. The parade will take place between 11am and 12pm.

The carnival will then centre on Harrogate’s stunning Valley Gardens throughout the afternoon and will feature live performances of international music and dance, interactive workshops and an eclectic mix of street performers to engage and entertain all the family.

An aromatic street food area will bring new and tantalising flavours for visitors to explore and sample as you enjoy the atmosphere and entertainment.

The Carnival Parade, which starts at 11am at St. Peter's Church, will go up Oxford Street, along Station Parade, down Cambridge Street, past the Cenotaph and along Montpellier Hill into Valley Gardens.

Within Valley Gardens there will be family friendly craft workshops, which will include the Urban Italian Chalking Art, Canopy Spray Painting Art, Environmental Craft Bees, bunting making, mask making with the Leeds West Indian Carnival, and a dance workshop with Anonymas Dance.

There will be a Global Music Stage, featuring DJ Trev, the Leeds West Indian Carnival, Bare Brass Band, Ajay Karmic Blues and Buffo's Wake.

There will also be a Global Dance Stage, featuring Annapurna Dance, Houriat Belly Dancing, St. Aelred's Irish Dancers, and Anonymas Dance.
